FeelingsWhen it comes to feelings and matters of the heart, humanity's attention seems to be focusing on many different forms of expression: from celebrating beauty and grace through music, dance and art, to sharing depth of empathy and compassion, to sloppy sentimentality and enslavement to superficial charm of image.
As it often is with all things emotional, there aren't clear lines between these different expressions, and often many people may pick up on some phenomenon of the moment for different reasons, each experiencing it differently. This is a fairly sentimental video and I sometimes question the value of this and other similar public demonstrations of emotion. However, in this case, I feel that it also serves an important purpose of bringing more personal and human understanding to the concept of War - realising, that all the numbers and statistics that reach our ears are actual human beings with feelings.

Photo of a grief-stricken father, whose son died during the 9/11 incident. The photo went viral 10 years later, on the anniversary of the tragedy. One thing is clear - humanity focuses a great deal on emotions and feelings, and though it sometimes makes us seek unnecessary drama or pay more attention to videos of cute kittens than other major issues, it also allows empathy, compassion and healing of emotional pains. It is reassuring to know that the global community is connected through shared values of beauty, nobility of spirit and humanitarian ideals.
