RevolutionOn a personal level we talk of realisations and moving on, but globally Goodbye can better be seen in processes of revolutionary change. In my opinion, Goodbye is now becoming the strongest focus of humanity's awareness. It seems sometimes that to be able to grab our attention, a piece of information simply has to be controversial or violent. It is likely to be exaggerated and allows for trivial things to be blown out of proportion, causing massive social discussions, conflict and outrage. American politician Gabrielle Giffords came into worlds focus of attention after having been injured during a shooting. In a perfect world, such intense quality of attention would only be given to matters of great emergency and importance. However, our world is far from perfect. As a group, we all feel that, and so conflict - whether real or projected onto some symbolic issue - allows people to come to realisations, refine opinions and take a stand.
It's a new thing - for so many individuals to be able to have their voice heard and have any significance at all - and so we're still only stumbling our way through it. We can feel great anger and dissatisfaction with the limited and narrow-minded grip of the past and don't always know where and how to direct it. Still, even in these early stages we're managing to get together on quite many important issues and cause change - like "The Arab Spring" - which allows for a sense of resolution, liberation and exaltation. We can't avoid conflict, but through these big cases we are learning to break our fixation on the negative by doing something about it. This directs us towards a more positive outlook and, therefore the creation of a happier future. |
