Global IdentityThanks to technological advances and the growing media network, people are able to become aware of events taking place in the furthest reaches of the Earth. The number of international communities and movements is growing rapidly, allowing people to identify themselves by other criteria than just their nationality or cultural background. There are still lots of differences between various social groups - these differences may sometimes seem exciting and exotic, and at other times totally alien - however, we are learning quickly that, when faced with life threatening situations, we are easily able to identify with our whole species - humanity.

Such clear and dramatic clashes with the forces of physical reality stripped away differences of taste, opinion or even beliefs and convictions, which vary from one individual to another, and revealed that everyone can identify with another human beings basic survival needs; feelings of pain, fear, compassion and heroism turned out to be fairly universal and uniting. |
